SoDo · Seattle, WA · 2963 4th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98134
bar-club
A one-of-a-kind Seattle institution built inside seven decommissioned railcars (including one that carried FDR during his 1944 campaign), serving Chinese-American food and karaoke by day and turning into a disco/vocal-house party by night. Its long-running "Stayin' Alive" Saturday night event fills the train cars with disco and vocal house DJs alongside the restaurant's regular karaoke crowd.
Getting there
What ravers say
Reviewers consistently describe Orient Express as a quirky, fun novelty venue known more for its train-car setting and karaoke than its dance nights; some note it gets uncomfortably warm and loud when packed on weekend nights.
Loved
+ unique train-car atmosphere+ novelty/nostalgia factor+ good food, reasonable prices
Gripes
− can get hot and loud− not a purpose-built music venue
