Bass

Yheti is a Dayton, Ohio bass producer whose sets are closer to sound sculpture than DJ set — 140bpm frames stretched into squelching, constantly morphing, faintly absurdist sound design that sits between dubstep, IDM and something with no obvious name. He is a fixture of the Wakaan and Sonic Bloom side of the American bass circuit, half of the LIMINOID project with lespecial, and a frequent partner of Toadface, who is on the bill for both of his PNW dates. His 2026 album SOMETHING FIERCE is the current record, and the Sleight of Sound tour reaches WonderLove in Portland on August 29, 2026 and Substation in Seattle on October 15.

Popularity

How this is measured

An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say

85/100

Reviewers converge on the same two things: the sound design is exceptional, and the music is deliberately strange. Album reviews of The Party Has Changed across the bass press are consistently admiring - one calls it 'perhaps Yheti's best yet' and singles out mixing that is 'simply incredible' - and the recurring vocabulary is wonky, weird and alien, meant as a compliment; a tour write-up frames the live show as a spectacle of sound production and energy. The flipside is the same trait: this is experimental, surreal, low-end music that expects the room to meet it, not a set of festival singalongs, and nobody praising him pretends otherwise.

Loved

+ sound design and mixing repeatedly singled out - 'simply incredible' per one album review+ The Party Has Changed called 'perhaps Yheti's best yet'+ tours reviewed as a spectacle of sound production and energy+ distinctive wonky, alien palette rather than generic heavy bass

Gripes

− avowedly weird and experimental — not built for casual listeners− no substantive criticism surfaced from permitted sources, so the picture skews positive
