Whales is Tal Rochman, an Israeli producer who started releasing at fifteen under the name Sex Whales and grew into one of the more versatile names at the heavy end of bass music. The signature is dark and melodic — fluttering sub-bass and hard-edged synths under tender harmonies — but the catalogue reaches across trap, drum & bass, glitch and full-power festival dubstep, with collaborations alongside Excision, Kayzo and Borgore. His Dangerous Waters run is branded consistently across independent ticketing for Orlando, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, and it lands at Seattle's Substation on November 12, 2026 and Portland's 45 East on November 13, both 21+.

Popularity

Unrated

We couldn't confidently match Whales to an artist in MusicBrainz, so we won't put a number on them — a score taken from the wrong artist is worse than none.

How this is measured

An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA

⚠ Placeholder — not real reviews. Sample data — these are generated placeholders, not real listener reviews. A sentiment aggregator will replace this section with sourced listener feedback.

What is readable is press and interview copy rather than opinion: label one-sheets describing a 'dark, melodic' hybrid of emo, trap and dubstep, an artist interview marking ten years of music, and a UKF feature. No concert reviews and no aggregated listener ratings were reachable from permitted sources, so there is no honest consensus to report. Treat the figures below as sample data.
