Bass

TVBOO - pronounced 'taboo' - is Mitch Draper, a bass producer out of Jackson, Mississippi whose whole project runs on Southern humour and a deliberately wonky, swampy take on dubstep. He is a WAKAAN artist and has also released through Drama Club, Quality Goods, Circus and emengy; the 2022 full-length 'Blue Collar Bass: By the People, For the People' and the earlier 'Something 4 Ur Mind' EP are the records that made his name. The sound is traditional dubstep architecture put through futuristic sound design, with sample choices that are frequently jokes, and he is as visible off-decks as on: the weekly interview podcast 'TVLKS with TVBOO' has made him one of the better-liked figures among other producers in the scene. For a Showbox SoDo or REALM crowd, expect heavy but goofy - a headliner who works the mic and stays out to meet people afterwards.

Popularity

How this is measured

An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA

⚠ Placeholder — not real reviews. Sample data — these are generated placeholders, not real listener reviews. A sentiment aggregator will replace this section with sourced listener feedback.

Only one first-hand review of a TVBOO show was readable - KCSU FM on an Aggie Theatre night in Fort Collins - and it is entirely positive: the writer describes a crowd energised and dancing non-stop from the moment he took the stage, praises how he blends bass subgenres with pop, hip-hop and even country, and notes he worked the mic from the start and stayed to meet fans afterwards. Beyond that there is label and release coverage (WAKAAN, Heard It Here First, EDM Identity, Stagehoppers) and nothing evaluative. One review is not a consensus, and no criticism of any kind surfaced, so the figures below are sample data.

Loved

+ high crowd energy start to finish, per the one readable live review+ genre-blending sets - bass subgenres cut with pop, hip-hop and country samples+ works the mic and meets fans after the show+ well-liked inside the scene, partly through the TVLKS podcast

Gripes

− the comedy-sample approach is polarising - it is a bit, and it will not land for everyone− only a single live review was reachable, so nothing balances it
