True Blue is the solo project of New York multi-instrumentalist, producer and visual artist Maya Laner, who has recorded under the name since 2017 and also plays in Porches. Her songs are synth-led and deliberately unstructured — described in press as dreamlike, trancey and rhythm-guided rather than verse-chorus — and her debut full-length Star Witness came out on True Nature, the independent label she co-founded. Live, it is as much a staged visual world as a set, built out of costume, movement and fantasy. PNW ravers catch her opening for Boy Harsher at Revolution Hall in Portland on Oct 9 2026 and The Showbox in Seattle on Oct 12 2026, alongside Kassie Krut.

Popularity

Unrated

We couldn't confidently match True Blue to an artist in MusicBrainz, so we won't put a number on them — a score taken from the wrong artist is worse than none.

How this is measured

An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA

⚠ Placeholder — not real reviews. Sample data — these are generated placeholders, not real listener reviews. A sentiment aggregator will replace this section with sourced listener feedback.

True Blue has real press coverage (Vogue, PAPER, Interview, Clash, The Fader), but it is artist-profile writing rather than listener or show-goer opinion, and no critical pushback surfaced at all. Rather than turn a handful of admiring features into a manufactured consensus, this is left as sample data.
