The Polish Ambassador is David Sugalski, a Northern California producer who has been making funk-forward electronic music since the mid-2000s and is instantly identifiable on stage by the neon jumpsuit he has worn for the whole run of the project. The music moves between global house, mid-tempo fatback funk and downtempo, pulling in West African percussion and Kirtan-derived melody, and the touring version is a band - horns, keys, guitar, violin and guest vocalists - rather than a laptop set. He founded the independent label Jumpsuit Records in 2006, co-founded the folktronica duo Wildlight with Ayla Nereo, and has collaborated with Matisyahu, Zion I, The Grouch, Mr. Lif and Nitty Scott. The ethos is a real part of the show: he runs a 25-acre homestead, records in a solar-powered studio, routes tours for low carbon footprint, hands merch over to fan-run marketplaces and puts label proceeds into nonprofits including ActionDays.us. Two nights at Nectar is his natural room - a Seattle crowd that wants to dance to live horns and be organised at afterwards.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA
Real concert reviews of The Polish Ambassador exist - Spectrum Culture, The Rust, 303 Magazine on a Beats Antique co-bill, and Live For Live Music on an Irving Plaza show - but every one of them returned HTTP 403 to this fetcher, and LiveRate has no page for him, so none could be read in full. What came through search summaries is consistent and consistently warm: an uplifting, high-energy, funk-and-dub set, a frontman who dances the whole show in the jumpsuit and safety goggles, and a self-identified fan community ('the TPA Family'). That is real but one-sided and second-hand, and no published reservation was recoverable, so the figures below are sample data rather than a measured verdict.
