Space 92 is Mathieu Mourareau, a French techno producer from the south of France who took the alias in late 2019 and was Beatport's top-selling techno act by the end of 2020. His sound is peak-time techno built on cosmic synth melodies, acid streaks and heavy, often distorted percussion, with a sci-fi frame he has traced back to Blade Runner, Tron and Alien - most of his track and EP titles keep the space theme running. He has released through Drumcode, Reinier Zonneveld's Filth on Acid, UMEK's 1605 and Insomniac's Factory 93, collaborated with HI-LO on 'Mercury' and with UMEK and Popof on 'Control', and launched his own label, TAKEOFF, in 2025. For a PNW techno crowd he is the big-room end of the genre: melodic enough to sing along to, loud and relentless enough to headline a club night, and he brings a back-to-back live project called Turbulence with Popof to larger rooms.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA
No reachable source carries listener or show-goer opinion about Space 92. What exists is trade coverage and interviews - We Rave You and EDMTunes on the Drumcode and Apollo releases, Gray Area's interview, Exron on the TAKEOFF label launch - plus commercial evidence in the form of a multi-year run as Beatport's best-selling peak-time techno artist. Beatport's chart position and a Gray Area writer's line that he 'delivers a level of precision and energy that keeps him in demand' establish reach and industry standing, not audience reception. Nothing here is a verdict on his sets, so treat the figures below as sample data.
