Skrillex is Sonny Moore, the Los Angeles producer who came out of a post-hardcore background and then, more than anyone else, made dubstep a mainstream American sound in the early 2010s. Two decades in he is less a dubstep act than a restless one — his 2026 surprise album SOMA runs through Brazilian funk, techno, trance, Miami bass and tech house with Chris Lake, ISOxo, Blawan, Randomer and Young Miko, and his live sets have followed suit into long, genre-hopping marathons. His Seattle date is the reason this one matters locally: he headlines the Gas Works Day Party at Gas Works Park on August 29, 2026 alongside Porter Robinson, Dylan Brady, Nick León and underscores, his first Seattle appearance in years, with a late-night afterparty at The Shop Club listed as tentative.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say
Live, Skrillex still delivers what people pay for — recent show-goers describe long sets that move through techno, dubstep, trap, house and bass house rather than a greatest-hits run, and he keeps pulling surprise guests, bringing Chase & Status out at Boomtown in August 2026. The record is where opinion splits: SOMA drew mixed-to-positive reviews and a visibly divided fan reaction, praised for range and criticised as scattered or underwhelming by listeners who did not connect with the singles. One practical note for a big outdoor booking: his Boomtown headline set was halted for roughly twenty minutes over crowd-control problems, with Skrillex asking the crowd to look after each other.
