Schrotthagen is a German hard-techno duo formed in 2023 by composers Giovanni Berg and Dieter Schleip, an unusual pairing — Schleip is a Grimme Prize-winning film composer decades into a scoring career, Berg a younger award-winning composer. They fold that background into the music: hard techno and trance built like film cues, with classical, jazz and punk debris in the arrangements, released through their own SCHROTT imprint alongside the album Nostalgie & Traurigkeit and singles such as 'Blütezeit'. They tour heavily in Europe, so the two PNW club dates are not part of a routed regional run: Substation in Seattle on October 24, 2026 and Holocene in Portland on November 19, both 21+.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA
Coverage is trade press rather than opinion: Beatportal and Electronic Groove have run a chart feature, a production how-to and a single write-up describing the duo's 'cinematic' techno, and festival listings account for the rest. No listener or show-goer reviews were reachable, so this is sample data.
