San Holo is Sander van Dijck, a Dutch producer, guitarist and singer from Zoetermeer who became one of the defining voices of the SoundCloud future-bass era and runs the bitbird label. Over the last few years he has pushed his sound toward what he calls 'wholesome riddim' — heavy, aggressive bass sound design carrying unusually vulnerable songwriting — which is the register of his 2026 album TRUE LOVE IN A MADE UP WORLD, featuring AVELLO, LSDREAM and guitarist RJ Pasin. His shows are worth the ticket for the live element specifically: he plays guitar and sings sections of the set rather than DJing it end to end. He plays REALM PDX in Portland on September 18, 2026 and Showbox SoDo in Seattle on September 19.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say
Live, San Holo is one of the better-reviewed acts in this lane - concert reviews describe an emotional arc rather than a set of drops, and single out the moments where he picks up a guitar and sings as what separates him from a DJ booth; one reviewer described 90 minutes balancing nostalgic tracks with reflective, communal moments where the crowd sings gentle hooks together. The divide is over the music, not the performance: his turn toward riddim split a longtime audience that came for future bass - some listeners say riddim still does not do it for them even with the wholesome spin, while others credit the experiment. Come for the show and the production; be aware the recorded direction is contested.
