Excision is Jeff Abel, a Canadian producer from Kelowna, BC who has been one of the defining names in heavy dubstep since his first release in 2007. He founded Rottun Recordings and Subsidia, was a third of the robot-suited Destroid project with Downlink and KJ Sawka, and is known less for any single track than for touring the largest sound and light rigs in bass music. That matters in the Pacific Northwest specifically: he runs two of the region's biggest bass events himself, The Thunderdome at the Tacoma Dome and Bass Canyon at The Gorge Amphitheatre.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA
Almost all recent coverage is lineup and festival announcement copy rather than reviews. The review-adjacent PNW coverage that exists praises production scale at Thunderdome 2026 — lasers, screen size, and the Tacoma Dome's suitability for low end. No recurring body of show-goer criticism was found either way, so this is not scored.
