Elder Island

Elder Island are a Bristol trio - Katy Sargent on vocals and cello, Luke Thornton on bass and programming, David Havard on guitar and synths - who came out of an experimental audiovisual project called Trouvaille around 2014 and have been drifting from folk toward the dancefloor ever since. Sargent's low, smoky vocal over a cello is the signature, and the records around it sit somewhere between indie electronica and house: 'The Omnitone Collection' (2019), 'Swimming Static' (2021) and, in May 2026, a third album, 'Hello Baby Okay', which the band describe as a deliberate reset built from free-flowing jam sessions and aimed squarely at euphoria. Worth knowing for a PNW audience: this is a band playing instruments, not a DJ set, so Neumos on September 20 with Glassio and Wonder Ballroom on September 22 are live-band nights.
Popularity
How this is measured
An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say SAMPLE DATA
No live reviews of Elder Island were reachable at all. The 2026 coverage is entirely release-cycle press around the third album - interviews, album profiles and a Bristol local piece framing it as a new era - and the band's return shows in London and Bristol are reported as having sold out but were not reviewed anywhere accessible. The North American dates are still upcoming as of this writing, so there is nothing from attendees either. Treat this rating as placeholder sample data rather than a real reading.
