Downtempo & ExperimentalIndie & Alt Electronic

Deltron 3030 is the sci-fi hip-hop supergroup of rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, producer Dan the Automator and turntablist Kid Koala, formed in the Bay Area and named for the dystopian concept album they released in 2000. They came back in 2025 after thirteen years away with a new record, and marked the debut's 25th anniversary with a documentary and box set before booking a run of 2026 dates. For an electronic crowd the draw is the machinery rather than the rapping: the Automator's cinematic, sample-heavy production and Kid Koala's live scratching are the reason the project reads as club-adjacent at all. In the Northwest they open for Gorillaz on October 30 at the Moda Center and October 31 at Climate Pledge Arena.

Popularity

How this is measured

An absolute, national (US) measure — not a ranking against the other artists on this site. We take the strongest of three open signals: ListenBrainz listens, English Wikipedia pageviews, and the number of Wikipedia language editions that have an article. The strongest one wins, so a signal we couldn't read never drags the result down. Bucket 1 means measured and small. Unrated never means small — it means we don't have the numbers.

What listeners say

73/100

Critics rate Deltron 3030 solid rather than spectacular live: LiveRate aggregates 12 concert reviews at 73%, with a consensus that they are 'a watchable live performer, with decent shows overall'. The recurring highlights are the group's funk-forward band feel and Kid Koala's turntable work, and reviewers note the crowds skew older than a typical hip-hop show. Nobody in the aggregate calls it a must-see, which is worth knowing before paying arena support prices - though at the PNW dates they are an opener on a Gorillaz bill, not the reason to buy the ticket.

Loved

+ funky, band-driven live sound+ Kid Koala's turntablism is a genuine highlight+ celebratory, feel-good rooms+ Del's Deltron Zero stage persona still lands

Gripes

− consensus is 'decent', not exceptional− audience skews older and less rowdy than a club crowd− aggregate rests on only 12 critic reviews− the catalogue people come for is 25 years old
