Amtrac is Caleb Cornett, a Kentucky-born, Los Angeles-based DJ, producer and multi-instrumentalist who founded the Openers label in 2017. His records sit at the melodic, disco- and indie-leaning end of house - smooth and groove-led rather than peak-time - and his collaborators run from Elderbrook to Diplo and Leon Bridges. What separates him from a straight DJ booking is that he plays as well as mixes: his booth carries a synth, a sample pad, a microphone and an electric guitar, and he sings and plays over the top of the set. That makes him a good fit for a PNW club room rather than a big-room festival stage.
